About us

Patrice, Russell and Inca welcome you to our guesthouse on the Isle of Skye.
Hillstone Lodge is a relaxing place to live and we want our guests to feel at home.
The house was designed by the award winning architects Rural Design in Dunvegan and built by Donald MacKenzie, also of Dunvegan. The location was carefully chosen to benefit as much as possible from the wonderful views of Loch Dunvegan and its magnificent surrounding landscape.
The house takes full advantage of a range of natural, local materials. These include timber, natural stone and slate reflecting local heritage and building traditions. Low energy construction techniques were adopted utilising Scottish timber, effective insulation and the use of passive solar gain. It was built to meet 'green' building standards and to achieve a very low environmental footprint.
Patrice has worked in the hotel industry since leaving school in France, most recently with Gordon Campbell Gray of CampbellGray Hotels. There he spent 11 happy years, during which the group managed hotels across Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
Russell has a background in IT and finance and having worked for many years in the bustling City of London, wanted to return to his Scottish roots. After holidaying on the Isle of Skye several times, we decided it was the perfect location to make our home.
Inca is a friendly and lively 5-year-old West Highland Terrier (who is also returning to her Scottish roots).
We are sure you will like the warm and cozy atmosphere of our modern Scottish guesthouse on the Isle of Skye. Our aim is for our guests to enjoy their stay and feel at home at Hillstone Lodge.
