Coronavirus

Keeping all of us safe on the Isle of Skye

Since we started Hillstone Lodge our guests have complimented us on our cleanliness.

We have now introduced additional procedures to ensure your stay with us is as much as possible concern free.

As the advice is changing regularly please be aware that our procedures may also be changed at late notice.

Prior to arrival

If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms then please do not travel to Hillstone Lodge. As per government advice you should stay at home and arrange for a test.

Cancellation due to Coronavirus

Any cancellation due to Coronavirus (either illness or due to government restrictions) will not incur the standard cancellation fee outlined in our terms and conditions.

Should we be alerted as to a guest having coronavirus or one of us testing positive or being asked to isolate then we may need to cancel your booking at short notice. If that happens we will provide a full refund and try to assist with alternative accommodation.

On arrival

Due to the additional cleaning requirements our checkin is strictly after 4pm. Rooms will be aired, cleaned and sanitised prior to your arrival.

As we always do, we will greet and welcome you, keeping in mind the social distancing guidelines in place. We will try to do this outside (weather permitting!) so that we can easily explain some of the new procedures. Please let us know the approximate time of arrival so that we can coordinate guest arrivals if necessary. If different guests arrive at the same time then we may ask you to wait in your car for a few minutes whilst we deal with any prior arrivals.

We have placed a hand sanitiser dispenser at the front door and we kindly ask that you use it every time before entering the lodge. We will show you the house and your room. Please let us know if you'd prefer to go straight to your room.

We can continue to give assistance with luggage, we only ask that you remove your bags from your car and we will take them safely to your room (we will sanitise our hands before and after doing this).

During your stay

As per government guidelines, we ask that guests wear face coverings when moving around the public areas of the house. These do not need to be worn whilst sitting in the lounge or in the dining room.

We will be wearing masks when we interact with you and where social distancing is difficult. We will also be regularly washing hands and sanitising touch points such as front door handles.

Weather permitting, we will have windows in dining room and doors in lounge open to provide additional ventilation.

You will be allocated a table in the dining room during your stay. The chairs and table will also be sanitised after each meal service.

We will not access your room while you are staying so the rooms will not be serviced during your stay unless requested. Your room will have been stocked with all amenities in advance and additional towels/linen will be provided should you need extra.

The lodge is our home. We do not employ external staff so we do all the cooking, cleaning, etc. This means that no other person will have access to your bedroom during your stay.

Our breakfast menu and experience will remain largely unchanged and we will continue to prepare and cook your breakfast to order. Unfortunately we can't have a buffet so we will also prepare cold dishes to order. We will wear masks whilst serving breakfast.

Don’t fancy dining out?

As you know Skye has numerous places to eat and we will continue to promote the fabulous places that we recommend, the list of which can be found on our “Food & Drink” page.

If you just want to soak up the view and enjoy a bottle of wine from our selection of drinks, we will offer a simple supper which depending on local sourced produce will generally be along the lines of a soup, light main, selections of vegs/salad and a dessert. This dinner option should be booked at least 48h in advance and is subject to availability.

Just in case

If in the unlikely event of you experiencing any COVID symptoms during your stay, including high temperature and a new continuous cough, we kindly ask you to stay in your room. You will find doctor and other medical services information in your room. Contactless temperature checks will be available. Please refer to the illness section of our Terms & Conditions. If COVID is confirmed then we may be required to pass your contact details to the Scottish Track & Trace team.

Check out

Please leave windows/doors in your bedroom open (weather permitting) on checkout.

If you do experience COVID symptoms or test positive after your stay at Hillstone Lodge, we ask that you make us aware of this.
